Wine tourism in the Aude
Welcome to the Aude, a land of history, gourmet delights, beauty, hiking and a thousand and one activities in the south of France.
Activities in the Cucugnan valley
One hour from Narbonne and 50 minutes from Perpignan, the Cucugnan valley on the border of the Pyrenees Orientales offers a preserved nature, a real invitation to many leisure activities. Most of the landscape is made up of limestone massifs, vast expanses of natural and wild areas. The perfect setting to recharge your batteries and taste the authentic wines of the estate.
The village where the Domaine is located is in the heart of the Hautes Corbières, between the fortresses of Quéribus and Peyrepertuse. For walkers, the Cucugnan-Quéribus loop offers a superb circuit through rocks and garrigues.
Trip to the Cathar country
Straddling the Eastern Pyrenees and the Aude, the site of Quéribus Cucugnan is an essential stop on the road to Cathar country. This mountainous region dominates with its high bars the Fenouillèdes furrow. It is here that the "citadels of vertigo" stand. Like sentinels perched between heaven and earth, the castles of Cathar country continue to defy time and the horizon.
The castle of Peyrepertuse is one of the most beautiful examples of fortification in the Corbières and the largest in the Cathar kingdom. Its exceptional location at an altitude of 800 m allowed it to communicate by signals with Quéribus, the bow of the Occitan world.
From the top of its rocky spur, at an altitude of 728 m, the keep of the castle of Quéribus dominates the plain which goes from Tautavel to Caudiès. It is one of the most impressive royal castles in the region.
